As part of the company-wide “Euronav on the Move” project, over 110 employees from around the world participated in the atlasGO challenge. Euronav employees tracked and logged 9,427 individual workouts and activities. Over 80% of the participants reported that they increased their physical or mindful activity over the period of the challenge.
“It boosted our appetite to exercise and while keeping us connected with our colleagues, rallying behind a common goal to support impactful charities!” an excited Euronav employee reported.
The challenge lasted for 6 months. Activities such as hiking, running, cycling, swimming, boxing, yoga, meditation and so on unlocked a donation. Together, the Euronav family raised EUR 26,367.
The participants encouraged each other with 9,064 virtual high-fives and 240 motivating comments. Over 1,000 sweaty selfies and pictures were shared on the feed. Many employees pointed out that they really enjoyed connecting with colleagues from around the world, seeing posts from colleagues exercising in the cities and landscapes they call home.
During the campaign, employees received tips and tricks on how to improve their lives and on how to reduce their environmental impact with simple actions. As a result, over 50% of the employees reported a change in awareness with regards to their own wellbeing, towards environmental issues as well as taking concrete actions to reduce their environmental footprint.
“atlasGO really helped us to connect so many dots and to reach a variety of goals with one approach!” Communications Manager Tina Vandenbosch says. “We were able to motivate our employees to become more active and mindful, we improved company culture and we were able to raise awareness about a variety of topics that are important to us, all while supporting a great cause.” Communications Officer Elisa Serroyen adds.
With the program destined to continue in 2020, Euronav is on its way to build its own community of sweaty changemakers.
