3 reasons why now is the best time to invest in wellness

mei 7, 2020 |

The workplace is where we spend at least 50% of our day, which directly influences our mental, physical, and emotional well-being. As a company, having healthy employees can end up benefiting a business more than ever.

Especially in harrowing times like these when engagement, morale, and aspirations are down. Here are some reasons why it’s crucial to put wellness first now more than ever.

1. Decrease Health Risks

This may seem unconvincing, especially since there is a pandemic raging across the planet, but it’s even more important now to take care of your health. Having a strong immune system can help your body combat diseases more effectively, and a good way to do that is through daily exercise.

Participate in or create an employee engagement challenge to keep spirits up and motivate your team to keep moving. Many of us are confined to our homes with little to no opportunities to set foot outside.

Through this challenge from teroGO, you can keep your team moving and engaged while raising awareness for a good cause at the same time. It doesn’t matter where you are. Activities in the employee engagement challenge can be done at home as well.

We welcome participants to choose hiking or running if they are allowed out, while others who aren’t can also participate in the challenge with indoor sports. Exercise releases endorphins (the happy hormone) which is a much-needed dose of hope in these uncertain times.

Any form of exercise can strengthen our mental, physical and emotional health, which may be unpredictable during this global pandemic.

2. Improve Productivity

Not all personalities are suited to work from home. Many employees can find it hard to focus, self-discipline may be out the window and without fellow workers and staff members by their side, many find it difficult to even get started on the day.

Onderzoek has shown that presenteeism is more prevalent in employees that don’t exercise as much or eat as healthily. Presenteeism for those who are wondering is being present at the workplace but getting little to no work done. Presenteeism is a widespread issue that plagues the workplace and might even be more pervasive among those working from home.

With a TV, game apps, and such distractions literally an arm’s length away, productivity could be a lot lower than before. Employees that participate in employee engagement activities will more than likely curb presenteeism and be more productive.

Getting excess energy out is vital in times where your employees are unsupervised. Encourage them to participate in challenges with family members as well so everyone can reap the benefits.

3. Increase Morale

There is nothing people need more now than increased morale. You can lead the team in a morning exercise every weekday no matter where they are in the world. Finish off with a few words of encouragement for added effect.

It is always available for those who have special circumstances due to the pandemic and be a sympathetic ear for those who need it. Always keep lines of communication open at any time of the day if possible. Better communication will lead to fellow employees feeling valued and heard, thus increasing morale.

Happier employees mean better work ethics, more motivation, and in turn, happier clients. Encourage your team to get plenty of rest. On the other end of the spectrum, we have staff members who don’t know when to stop working just to keep their minds off other pressing issues such as COVID-19.

A good diet, regular exercise, and sufficient sleep all go hand-in-hand when you invest in wellness. Take care of yourself, your team, your fellow workers, and your family members, and keep your hopes up.

Conclusion

A comprehensive wellness program may be difficult to achieve since the team is spread out and not in the same space. The bottom line is a wellness program or even just a wellness employee engagement challenge with teroGO will definitely improve productivity.

Boost and maintain employee morale and help fight the takeover of depression, distress, and despair by eating right, sleeping well, and exercising regularly. The best part about starting an employee engagement challenge with teroGO is that it can be done anywhere, at any time, and involve anyone.
