Get Your Rear in Gear 2019

Luglio 29, 2019 |

Every year, the Colon Cancer Coalition hosts the Get Your Rear in Gear 5k in San Francisco, a race that raises awareness and community support around the second most prevalent cancer in the United States. This year, several teroGO employees, interns, and ambassadors came out to support the cause by moving their feet! The event was not only a way to get out and support the Colon Cancer Coalition but also a way for teroGO to engage with a community of runners who care about the well-being of their community.

The Race

In its fourth year, the Get Your Rear in Gear San Francisco Bay Area 5k race is centered on raising awareness about colon cancer and how treating early can save hundreds of thousands of lives. Event organizer Jenny Yu has been leading the race for all four years in San Francisco and is passionate about bringing awareness to this cause as her father passed away from colon cancer a few years ago.

“Getting the word out there for people to know how important it is to screen and screen early is what Get Your Rear in Gear SF Bay Area is all about. Screening CAN REALLY SAVE lives if caught early, since colon cancer can be cured 90% of the time,” noted Yu. “My dad did not screen early and stage 4 colon cancer took him away too early; he missed out on his grandkids’ graduations, his new grandkids’ smiles and giggles and time with our mom, his wife of over 40 years.”

teroGO’s Beginnings

For teroGO, this race is memorable and with Get Your Rear in Gear that the company launched a few years back! Being rooted in a community of sweaty changemakers working to promote important issues like colon cancer awareness is central to what teroGO is and does as a company, and coming back each year to not only participate in this race but to celebrate the power of this mighty community is just as important.

All in all, this race and event was a tremendous success, raising almost $100,000 to help individuals get life-saving screenings and treatments for colon cancer. Moreover, the event showed just how powerful a community of dedicated individuals and teams could be, and teroGO is extremely proud to be a part of that community.
