“The goal was to raise funds to collect and send 500 bicycles to the newly opened bicycle center in Burkina Faso.”
Ride for impact
Velafrica invited their corporate and private donors to register teams of 5 people for a donation of $150 per team.
teroGo provided a sign-up platform, including a payment function.
10 sponsors offered prizes and cash donations.
Velafrica cycling challenge 2019
For one month, 55 teams with more than 300 participants logged over 100,000 kilometers.
Together they raised over $15,000 dollars for Velafrica! A non-profit organization that collects old bicycles fixes them, and ships them to Africa so more people can have access to education, health care and avail themselves of economic opportunities.
143 sweaty selfies were taken during the challenge.
Why start your own Virtual Race?
Creating a virtual race for your non-profit gives you the opportunity to reach a bigger audience and spread the word outside of your community.
The benefits for your supporters are:
1. They can participate virtually from wherever they are…
2. …whenever they want…
3. …and support a charity with their donation
The benefits for your non-profit are:
1. Low operational costs and risk as everything is virtual
2. Low administrative effort as you don’t have to plan for a physical event
3. Potential to scale to an unlimited amount of supporters
4. Raise funds, awareness, and engagement for your mission and projects
“teroGO provided us the perfect tool to raise funds and awareness for our new bicycle center in Burkina Faso! We were able to build and engage a community over a month that now feels even closer to our mission and activities. We will certainly be back in 2020 with our next virtual race.” – Dominik Unternährer, Communication & Fundraising at Velafrica.
