How does this work? Real-life examples are usually the best way to grasp a new concept. Let us introduce you to Margo Cianchetta, Senior Director of Development & Partnerships at Move For Hunger. Below you will find out how, over the last six months, Move For Hunger has been leveraging the atlasGO platform for
1) Fundraising
2) Digital community building
3) Employee engagement for their corporate partners
“One of the ways that our corporate partners used the app was to engage and allow their senior leadership to participate and interact alongside their employees, something that normally may not happen on an everyday basis.”
– Margo Cianchetta, CFRE, Senior Director, Development & Partnerships at Move4Hunger
Margo: We have created several events using the l'application atlasGO over the past year. These include events that engage our network as a nonprofit and with our corporate partners and their employees.
Move For Hunger started originally as we were looking for a way to engage our network in a virtual way that would make people feel like they were participating as one, even though they were not physically together. We decided to set up a challenge to engage our network and set up a common goal to work towards. By incorporating physical and nonphysical activities, we were able to engage our network in a way we never had before, all while rallying around a common cause.
Margo: We have received very positive feedback from our corporate partners that have participated in this type of event. The reasons include global engagement, team bonding, inclusivity, user-friendliness, customizability, and a sense of purpose.
Margo: Some have stated that they have often struggled to try to find something to be able to include all of their employees, including those that may be international or outside of the United States. The atlasGO app works internationally, so that was a plus, and the fact that their activities were able to translate into kilometers and not just miles also was beneficial.
Margo: One of our corporate partners used the app to create teams of people for their challenge who may not normally interact, which helps with employee morale, especially with so many people still working from home or remotely. The chat, leaderboards, and high five capacity really allow for a competitive spirit while allowing for encouragement & motivation throughout the event.
Margo: There are so many activities that can be tracked within the app. It is not just physical activities that are really appreciated and very important for our partners. Many have often a misconception that employee challenges are only meant for people who run or walk. Our corporate partners really appreciated the fact that we were able to incorporate everyday activities into the challenges that we created for them.
Margo: The app also makes it really easy for everyone to participate as it’s a straightforward app to use. One of the ways that our corporate partners used the app was to engage and allow their senior leadership to participate and interact alongside their employees, something that normally may not happen on an everyday basis.
This allowed the senior leadership to get to know their employees in a new way and allow the employees to interact with senior leadership in a fun and competitive manner.
Margo: Finally, the sense of purpose is really shown throughout the challenges that can be set up on the atlasGO app. The thermometers that show how everyone is progressing both as an individual and as a team are really a great way to keep everyone motivated.
The leaderboards and the chat features help to encourage participation. Many participants stated that they were sad when the event challenge was over because they missed logging their activities and participating alongside their colleagues.
Margo: We were also able to work with the atlasGO team to create customizable assets such as selfie frames. We were also able to create content that helps encourage and motivate our participants through the pinned post option.
