Wie XLG-Mitarbeiter:innen zusammenkamen, um Krebs und den Klimawandel zu bekämpfen

For the third time, XLG partnered with atlasGO for an employee engagement challenge that brought their workforce together around an impactful goal. 

For 35 years, XLG has brought together more than 30 service activities for businesses and individuals. Their companies are divided into four main poles: Industry, Facility, Building, and Home. With more than 3,500 customers and 9,000 employees, XLG is active in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. 

Let’s take a look at XLG’s three different atlasGO challenges and how they’ve made a positive impact on the world, their employees, and their business. 

Together to fight kids cancer

XLG’s first challenge supported KickCancer, a nonprofit organization with a mission to cure childhood cancer by supporting scientific research, removing obstacles, and connecting people.

The goal was for employees to unlock a €10,000 donation to KickCancer, and they did just that! By working together, over 90 XLG employees engaged in sports and fitness activities like running, biking, kayaking, basketball, and dancing, to name a few.

XLG also gave employees the chance to win fun prizes! 

Prizes were awarded for the following participants:

     • The employee who posted the most original “sweaty selfie”

     • The team who unlocked the biggest donation for KickCancer

     • The individual who unlocked the biggest donation for KickCancer

Overall, it was a success! XLG’s employees unlocked the donation with the completion of activities that supported their own well-being.

Together to fight climate change

XLG’s next two challenges supported Graine de Vie, an NGO dedicated to protection, afforestation and reforestation. Since 2009, they’ve already planted 45 million trees!

With commitment and dedication to the environment, XLG’s goal for their recent two atlasGO challenges was to plant 40,000 trees each. They reached their goal! The motivated employees came together to plant a total of 80,000 trees with their physical activities.

Trees have a powerful impact on the environment. 

Here’s why:

     • Global forests removed about one-third of fossil fuel emissions annually from 1990 to 2007.

     • Trees remove pollution from the atmosphere.

     • Trees lower surface and air temperatures by providing shade. 

     • In one year, a mature tree will absorb more than 48 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen in exchange.

XLG’s plan is to continue planting trees with Graine de Vie in Madagascar to help create and expand their XLG forest, a way to give back to the environment.

Together for employee well-being

XLG chose fitness and sports related activities for all three of their challenges. Through sweat and smiles, their employees were able to work towards improving their health while also competing for good causes

Exercise has also been shown to reduce stress and anxiety und improve the overall well-being of those who engage in it. 

Together to build a connected team

Let’s talk about XLG’s third and most recent challenge, which had amazing participation! 

More than 140 employees came together in 12 different teams to contribute to their 4-month challenge. Collectively, they shared 632 photos with each other and logged 2,458 different activities! For each photo posted, colleagues supported each other mit virtual high fives und motivational comments.

XLG was happy to see employees from different departments get to know each other better by coming together around a common goal.

Team building activities play an important role in bringing employees together. Among other benefits, they help colleagues build better relationships with each other, improving communication und boosting company culture.
